Being Calm in Hard Situations

Let's face it, there are going to be some rough times in leadership positions. As Charlie reported, 30-42% of a manager's time is spent working through conflict resolutions. So, it's worth a lot to pay attention to this topic. All of conflict, in the end is a disagreement between people. It may be a disagreement with their words, opinions, or you just don't like the person. But, when it comes to leading, you have to just put that aside. It's so easy to get mad and just say, "You know what, just go away and don't talk to me." This is not nice, but it happens a lot. And when it comes to some tensions between people, it's Always better to just take a deep breath and just calm yourself. Getting mad, being disappointed, or just having a bad day is because you don't agree with reality. See, everyone has a certain "vision" of something, and when reality doesn't click with that vision, they're suffering. The best solution is just take reality as it is. Make the best of what you have at this moment. You have so much. So, the conclusion is just to be calm in rough circumstances. The person with character is the same in good times and hard. Be it.

  1. I really agree with you here! This is something that is extremely hard for me. Whenever there is a conflict between opinions or personalities, I don't like to get involved. That has it's positive aspects as well as the negative ones. It is positive because I won't waste my time getting stuck in the middle of drama. It's negative because I don't excercise my leadership skills in these situations to bring the two conflicting parties together. I'm very glad that you brought up this topic! It forced me to think about how I should handle conflicts in a more active way. Thanks! :)
